On Wednesday evening, Club President Fred Reed welcomed a host of inspirational guests to Kingsholm Stadium, to give thanks to the efforts following the President’s 125 Walk in March, with £16,000 raised for worthy local causes.
Reed welcomed representatives from the four main charities that will benefit from the money raised by walkers who took on the task to walk to Thornbury RFC and back, earlier this year.
In a special event held at Kingsholm Stadium’s 1873 Ricoh Suite, Reed was on hand to thank the many people that took part in the walk ahead of the fixture at Bristol Rugby last season, and present cheques to the charities; including Clic Sargent, Muscle Help Foundation, Pied Piper Appeal and the Gloucester Rugby Community Charity.
The Gloucester Rugby Former Players Association were also on hand to kindly donate £4,000 to local Dementia charity Crossroads.

Reed commented on the generosity of everyone involved.
“It was a pleasure to organise this event, and we are delighted to present funds to some fine local charities. It was a massive effort for all involved, including all of the walkers, to the volunteers who gave up their weekend to support and the generous people we met along the way.
“Thankfully the sun was shining throughout, and we are massively grateful to all of the charities for their fine support throughout.”
